Snow drifted down like fluff, tiny feathery balls of ice that tickled your nose as it blew by your face. The black trees were leaded with snow instead of leaves in this time of year, the boughs bending under the pressure of the frozen water droplets, and clouds of gray swirled in the heavens, promising the a downfall of snow in the near future. The once green painted forest was now a sparkling white of snow and ice, and only the humble smoke of fires gave sign of warmth in the nipping cold. In a small village in the bowl of a valley, villagers huddled in blankets and to each other, enjoying good hot soup
